Scott and Stephanie have lived in Central Minnesota their entire lives. They met in the spring of 2001 and married in May of 2005. They have four children: James 14, Jayde 7, Maverick 4 and Morgan 4. Scott does seasonal work running heavy equipment for a local trucking company while Stephanie is a stay at home mom. The family enjoys camping, ice fishing, races and spending time with friends and relatives.
The Whitters have faced multiple challenges and because of this they must creatively manage their income by living on a strict budget. Their son, Jayde, has multiple medical disabilities that require constant care and attention, they experienced unexpected financial setbacks with excessive heating costs, and they discovered lead paint in their home which made their daughter, Morgan, sick for quite a while. The home they were renting had so much disrepair that the county closed it and it is no longer in rentable condition. Since then, the family relocated to a smaller 3-bedroom duplex in Saint Cloud.
The Whitters were selected to be a partner family with Central MN Habitat for Humanity in the summer of 2007. The site of their home will be on the north side of Saint Cloud. They are extremely excited to own their own home and to not have to move anymore. James, the oldest son, loves to work on muscle cars, play his guitar, and go hunting with his Uncle Jesse. He is looking forward to having his own room and working in the garage with his dad. Jayde is excited to have a swing set, a tree house, make new friends and to decorate his room with Spiderman. Maverick is looking forward to playing outdoors and wants to have the bottom bunk in his own room with a Lightning McQueen bedspread. Morgan likes to play with dolls and is going to paint her room with "princess" colors: pink, yellow, purple and green.
Scott and Stephanie are extremely grateful and want to thank all the donors and volunteers for helping them provide security for their family and making their dream of owning their own home a reality.
