Sherri Bauer's Story

Before their Habitat home, Sherri and her four children had to share a floor in her parent's house. Her son John, who is 9 years old, had to sleep on the floor in her bedroom while the other three girls, ages 12 to 15, had to share one room. They had their own bathroom, but had to share the kitchen. Luckily, they had a room in which the kids could play.

Sherri was selected for a Habitat home in 2008. When she found out that she was selected she said, "We were so happy that some of us started to cry. It has been a dream of mine for the last 15 years to be able to have a house for the kids to play and be able to have friends over." Since her selection she has been working on her 200 sweat equity hours. Her family has been baking cookies for affiliate events, working on bulk mailings and walking dogs for the Humane Society. Sherri has also painted on other Habitat homes.

Their Habitat home will allow the children to have their own space, room to play and even allow them to invite friends for sleepovers. They will even have their own kitchen to bake cookies in. Congratulations to Sherri Bauer and her family! We hope your new home brings you plenty of joy and plenty of new happy memories.

Sherri would like to say something to all the Habitat volunteers, "A Big Thank You! If it wasn't for you guys a lot of people wouldn't be able to get into a house of their own."
