"It's a great way to get out of the office and try something new," said Ali Peichel, "I've learned skills that I can use on my own home." Ali is one of several employees that came out to our 11th Avenue Southeast home in St. Cloud. Unfortunately for them, it was a rainy day and the puddles of water in the yard were slowly growing into lakes. They made the best of their situation and worked on the house with smiles on their faces regardless of the bad weather.
Wells Fargo Home Mortgage has been in partnership with Central Minnesota Habitat for Humanity for over eleven years. The group that came out on October 21, 2009 was a wonderful mix of experienced Habitat volunteers and first-timers. Ali, Diane, and Deb remember working on past projects such as Green Build, 33rd Circle, Veteran's Drive, and 3rd Street North. When we ask them if they had any special memories of working with Habitat, Diane mentioned riding on the lift machine while putting up windows and how it felt like a "Valleyfair ride." Deb and Ali talked about how they have done everything from framing and sheetrock to painting and landscaping. David and Jake, on the other hand as "newbies" said they thought it would be fun to go out and work with their hands.
The greatest part of volunteering with Habitat, they shared with us, was that you could see tangible results right away. "You know that you're doing something wonderful when you walk away and you can see the frame of the house." Wells Fargo Home Mortgage has been a wonderful partner with us and we want to thank them for all their hard work. We will continue to invite them to help build homes with us for families in need.
